Health system dashboard

The Health System Dashboard provides an overview of important aspects of the public health system.

As well as displaying the most recent data, the Dashboard provides statistics for the previous 12 months. Note, data may vary from that previously published due to data reporting practices. Where appropriate, statistics are available for each of the major hospitals.

The Dashboard was restructured in January 2023 to enable reporting of additional statistics but retains all of the previously published indicators. New indicators are subject to ongoing refinement and improvement.

About the measure: In Tasmania, a call to 000 for an ambulance is dealt with by an emergency medical dispatcher. A time stamp is recorded when the emergency medical dispatcher confirms the phone number of the triple zero caller and the address of the incident. This time stamp is very early in the ambulance dispatch process and is a reasonable match with the national definition.

This measure applies only to emergency incidents. These are immediately life threatening incidents, for which on-road resources must mobilise as soon as possible and respond using emergency warning devices. Incidents attended by fixed or rotary wing response vehicles are excluded.

April 2022 Data: The lower screening numbers for April 2022 are not indicative of negative impact on client access. Screening numbers for this month are lower than usual primarily due to partial closure of the Hobart and Launceston clinics while x-ray equipment was replaced and upgraded. This is a planned process to ensure Tasmanian women have access to the latest medical technology.
